Inner North

Canberra’s Inner North comprises 14 suburbs and spans an area from the northern foreshores of Lake Burley Griffin, around to the ridges of Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie and Mount Majura.

Directly adjacent to the City Centre, the Inner North is the retail and commercial heart of Canberra. A popular destination for academics due to the Australian National University being in the vicinity, it is also popular with young urban professionals because of the multitude of dining and entertaining options on offer at Dickson and the nearby City Centre.

Surrounded by natural reserve, the Inner North also includes some of the city’s best sporting facilities at Lyneham, the Yowani Golf Course and Canberra Racecourse. The National Museum is on the lake’s foreshore of the Inner North and a Farmer’s Market is held each Saturday where the some of the region’s best fresh produce is available from local growers.
